Summary

A circular feature is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 and 1972, where it may be a very slight mound, and as cropmarks on later photographs. The nature of this feature is uncertain, though it has been suggested that it may possibly be a military site. The feature is still visible on photographs taken in 2005 and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project, it is considered to be a post medieval chalk pit or quarry.

Full Description

A subcircular feature is visible on aerial photographs taken in 2005 [1] and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project. It appears to comprise an outer bank, 55m across with an inner hollow area. It appears to be more irregular on earlier photographs taken in 1947 [2] and is considered likely to be the site of a post medieval chalk pit or quarry.
