'The Mission House (sometimes called St John's Mission House) is now called The Park Church Centre. It has always been part of St John's Church, Greenhill, Weymouth. The Mission House was erected by public subscription in the 1890s. The person who led this initiative was Ellen Thompson, who was also a Sunday School Teacher in the Mission House. A plaque (still) inside the Mission House confirms that Ellen Thompson's estate paid the outstanding £165 after her death in 1894. There is a foundation stone dated 16th March 1892 outside the building which shows that the stone was laid by Susan Wordsworth, wife of the Lord Bishop of Sarum.'
