Full Description

Former number three malt house built in 1878 and converted into housing during the mid-late 1980s. Little of the original building survives except the ornate brick frontage at one end but it was long and linear in plan with two storeys and more vernacular in style than malt house number two. Built of Portland stone with brick dressings, welsh slate roof and more recently asbestos cement roof, the building comprised two or three growing floors, barley storage and probably a flat bottomed steep, all of which were demolished in the conversion. The buildings conformed to the Ware pattern of storage at each end of the building away from the growing floors. Two linked kilns with pyramidal roof were recorded at the time of survey in 1995.
