Summary

A torpedo factory built in 1891. First shown on an Ordnance Survey map of 1903. Buildings and structures associated with the Whitehead torpedo factory are visible on aerial photographs of Wyke Regis taken in 1946, located at the northern end of Ferrybridge. It is probable this factory continued in use during the Second World War.

Buildings and structures associated with Whitehead torpedo factory are visible on aerial photographs of Wyke Regis taken in 1946 <3-4>, located at the northern end of Ferrybridge. It is probable this factory continued in use during the Second World War. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project, this area having sinve been built over by modern development.
