Full Description
A 13th century alabaster carving depicting the burial of St Catherine was discovered buried in some plaster in a recess over a fireplace at 50 High Street during 1922. The panel probably originally formed part of a retable of the passion of St Catherine which generally consisted of five scenes, in Shaftesbury Abbey church. It was moved to St Peter's Church after its rediscovery and then to Shaftesbury museum.[1][2][3]
