Field Systems:- Taken from Air Photos in Jany-March. 1949. by R.J.C. Atkinson. <3>

A series of scarps, perhaps representing traces of a Celtic field system. <4>

[Centred at SY 54359390] A; [Centred at SY 54109340] B; [Centred at SY 55409350] C. Three areas of an IA/RB field system, visible on Aps. CPE/UK/2431/4153-5.

A: Fairly well defined field banks and lynchets on a N.W. facing slope. The area is under grass. B: Poorly defined field banks and lynchets under grass, particularly on the hill top above the 600-700ft. Contours; on the lower slopes there are very scattered lynchets from 0.5m to 2.0m. High. Field banks average 0.2m. High.

C: There are indications of field banks and lynchets, 0.2m to 0.4m. High, but much defaced by ploughing, on the S. and S.W. facing slopes above the 700ft. Contour. The area is at present under young crops, and is situated S.W. of TWO GATES, incorporating the earthwork described on 39 NW 18. This field system is to some extent visible on Aps. CPE/UK/2431/4152-4. <5>

[Centred at SY 54759320] D. Within this area the lynchet has been mainly destroyed by modern cultivation. <6>
