Full Description
Evidence for post-medieval activity was excavated during an archaeological evaluation of land to the rear of 58 Salisbury Street, Blandford Forum. The evaluation comprised seven machine dug trenches was carried out in early January 2000 in an area of undeveloped land close to the medieval centre of Blandford.
The results of this suggest evidence for relatively recent archaeology in the form of a cluster of Post Medieval rubbish pits. These were uncovered in the south east of the site, the area considered to be of highest archaeological potential. In addition to this, a Post Medieval 'soakaway' was uncovered in the north west of the site, again of a similar date. [1]
