Please read our .

Summary

A lime kiln shown on the tithe map in 1841, marked on a map of 1863, recorded as ‘limekiln’ on the 1889/1901 Ordnance Survey map, and ‘old limekiln’ on the 1927 Ordnance Survey map. The date of the kiln is not known but it is most likely to be early nineteenth century. This kiln was visited by Peter Stanier in 1992-93, and he noted that very little (1-19%) of the structure survived; what remained was in bad condition and it was not possible to determine what type of kiln construction this was.
