Full Description

Site of a powder magazine adjacent to Higher Sea Lane. This small rectangular building is shown and named on a map accompanying an 1867 Sale Document for the nearby cement factory (1). This magazine was probably associated with a battery on the cliff top marked on the same map (1). This battery was operated by the coastguard. The magazine is depicted on both the first and second edition Ordnance Survey 25-inch maps (2) (3). It was probably demolished in the 1920s or 30s.
