Parallel linear features are visible on aerial photographs as earthworks and cropmarks overlying the Iron Age/Romano-British field system described in MDO1605. These features are considered likely to be ridge and furrow cultivation marks of medieval origin.

Parallel linear features are visible on aerial photographs as earthworks and cropmarks overlying the Iron Age/Romano-British field system described in MDO1605. These features are considered likely to be ridge and furrow cultivation marks of medieval origin. This broad ridge-and-furrow on the downland probably represents a temporary or sporadic extension of cultivation beyond the limits of the permanent arable in the medieval period or, possibly, later. {1-2}
