Listed Building record MDO21132 - Churchyard cross, Cerne Abbas

An early 15th century preaching cross in the churchyard on the abbey site. The remains consist of a massive octagonal socket, and the stump of a plain octagonal tapering shaft. It is doubtful if the cross is in situ. H H R Grade II.<1> <2> <3>

The cross is as described. The socket stone is 1.1m across and 0.5m high and stands upon a stone base. The shaft fragment is 0.3m thick and 0.7m high. Published 1:2500 survey correct. <5>
