A bowl barrow of probable Bronze Age date. Recorded as an extant mound during field investigation in 1980. Also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs.

Full Description

A bowl barrow of probable Bronze Age date located on a saddle on a ridge, north-west of Bronkham Hill. It is part of a larger linear barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway.

Ordnance Survey field investigation in 1980 noted an excavation pit 1.5 metres deep on the south-west side of the mound. No evidence of a ditch was observed. The mound measured 27.5 metres in diameter and a maximum of 1.6 metres in height. <1>

Also visible as an earthwork mound on aerial photographs <2>, measuring approximately 19 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
