Six pits are visible as cropmarks and low earthworks on aerial photographs. They may be post medieval chalks pits however the close proximity to Puddletown Forest with it's numerous natural solution hollows (swallet holes) MDO20495, mean that a narural origin cannot be ruled out.

Six pits are visible as cropmarks and low earthworks on aerial photographs. They may be post medieval chalks pits as one is marked as a 'Old Chalk Pit' on the OS 1st Edition Map. However the close proximity to Puddletown Forest with it's numerous natural solution hollows (swallet holes) MDO20495, mean that a natural origin cannot be ruled out. {1}
