Full Description
The Church of the Holy Trinity, was built following the creation of the parish of Beaminster, to serve as a chapel of ease for the northern part of Beaminster. It was designed by Carver and Giles of Taunton and building started in October 1849 and was consecrated in June 1851. (1) The church was deconsecrated in 1978 and is now a private dwelling.
The building comprises nave, north and south aisles, north and south porches, chancel and vestry. The walls are of local stone rubble with ashlare dressings and slate roofs. There was formerly a double bell cote with one bell at the east end of the nave, but was taken down in 1976. The chancel has a pointed east window of three lights and graduated tracery. The aisle windows are pointed lights with trefoil cusping and the clerestory walls have four circular windowns on each side, alternately trefoiled and quatrefoiled. (1) (2)

‘(2) HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, on the N. side of the town, was begun in 1849 and consecrated in 1851; Carver and Giles of Taunton were the architects. It contains two late 17th-century high-backed chairs with turned frames, panelled splats and carved cresting, turned legs and carved front stretchers.’
