Full Description

A coin of the house of Constantine was found amongst 14th century debris near the site of the well At Sherborne Old Castle during 1955 (Bean, 1955).

C E Bean excavated the well during 1955 and it was also Bean who recorded the findspot of the Roman coin. The separate reports, however, suggest that the coin was not found during the excavation of the well but in unrelated debris nearby.
