Full Description
The Chapel of St Andrew at Bradpole was part of the holdings of the alien priory of Loders, a cell to St Mary of Montebourg. The priory was founded in the beginning of the 12th century and St Andrew's Chapel was held by the priory before the end of the 12th century. (1) Its location was probably close to St Andrew's Well.
The date of the demolition of the chapel is not known. Hutchins mentions an 'old chapel which once existed at the eastern extremity of Bridport' (2). A 15th century window fixed internally to the west wall of the nave in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Bradpole is said to have come from the Chapel of St Andrew and was fixed in its present position in 1909 (3).
