Full Description
The Allington Tithe map lists a 'House, Weaving Shops, & Spinning Walks' owned by John Rendall and occupied by William Andress and others in a plot of land to the rear of 17-21 North Allington (1). The roughly square site depicts a series of six buildings of differing sizes along all four sides of the site. John Rendall was in business from 1815 to 1849 producing woven goods (2). William Andress is not mentioned in the trade directories.
In the mid 19th century, the terrace of houses known as 'Sunnybank' were built along the eastern side on the site of some of the former industrial buildings. No trace of any industrial buildings are shown on the 1888 Ordnance Survey map (3).
