Full Description

Site of former open ropewalk in an area known as Morterhay. Seth Seymour is listed as a twine-merchant in the ‘Universal British Directory of c. 1793 and as a manufacturer of line, twine shoe thread and fishing nets in Pigot’s Directory of 1823-4. Seth Seymour appears in the Churchwardens Ratebooks of St Mary’s Bridport from 1779 to 1830. The ropewalk was at 21 South Street. (1)

No visible sign of the spinning ways now survive.
