Full Description
Site of a brick kiln marked on the 1840 Allington Tithe Map. The Apportionment entry records that it was owned by Jesse Cornick and occupied by himself and is described as ‘Girtups Garden Brick Kiln Barn & House’. The kiln is marked as a rectangular structure in the middle of a large close. (1)
A structure of similar size and shape in approximately the same position is shown on the 1890 Ordnance Survey map, which may be the brick kiln, but it is not marked as such on the map (2).
It is not shown on the 1902 Ordnance Survey map suggesting that it was demolished at some time at the end of the 19th century (3).
