Lichfield Mercury - Friday, 24/7/1891: 'Collision in the Channel'. Precis; The North German Lloyd mail steamship Dresden, while on a voyage from Bremen to Baltimore collided with the brigantine Annie Harris, of Padstow, Captain T. Bincombe, 15 miles south of Portland. The crew except the captain and the mate, George Conch who were initially picked up by the Dresden, were drowned. The Dresden transferred the two survivors to a fishing boat. The survivors later claimed that the Dresden was at fault. More details in the report.
