Full Description

The Signals Research and Development Establishment was based at Friars Cliff from 1942-1980. Two Radomes (military communications dishes disguised beneath 'beehive' structures) existed on the cliff here until the establishment was moved to the Malverns in 1980.

Hodges recorded the existence of a strengthened police post/guard room at the SRDE site at Friars Cliff (1). Not clear if it still exists. The SRDE site is now the Maritime and Coastguard Agency raining Centre. But the Radomes have been removed.
