Summary

A pillbox used to exist on the site of the Pontins holiday camp, Wick Ferry. It was polygonal in plan, constructed in concrete and faced south. It formed part of the defences of Christchurch. The site was mapped by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A pillbox used to exist on the site of the Pontins holiday camp, Wick Ferry. It was polygonal in plan, constructed in concrete and faced south. It formed part of the defences of Christchurch (1).

The pillbox is visible on a 1945 aerial photograph (2). An aerial photograph of 1948 shows a holiday camp on the site (3). The pillbox is no longer visible, presumably demolished during its construction.

The site was mapped by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
