Full Description
A 19th century formal garden at Church Hatch public gardens is visible on the OS 1st edition 25 inch map (1). Evidence from a contour survey conducted by The Christchurch Antiquarians during 2004 suggests that elements of this garden are still visible on the ground as very slight earthworks. The garden was is laid out in a series of rectilinear partitions (2).
A ditched boundary visible on 1940s aerial photographs may be part of the formal garden earthworks and was plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project (3).
