Full Description
Evidence for a building to the east of the east range of monastic buildings at Sherborne school was recovered during excavations to the north of The Slype during 1974-6. The records of this excavation have been published in PDNHAS monograph 16 (1). Numbers in square brackets refer to context numbers in this publication.
This building utilised the former east wall of the monastic east range and a further E-W aligned wall butted against it. The later wall was built in the late 17th-early 18th century and shown from cartographic evidence to form part of a building. A further wall was added in the 18th-19th centuries.
