Full Description
The north range of monastic buildings comprised a 15th century Abbot’s House, parts of which still survive as part of Sherborne School. The refectory is thought to have been located on the north side of the cloister walk. To the north of the supposed position of the refectory was a monastic kitchen, the chimney of which still survives at the north end of the the eastern wing of the Abbot's House. The abbot’s Hall was built on two bays of 12th century vaulted undercroft and now forms the Sherborne School chapel. These are the only standing remains of the earlier 12th century north range.
The surviving elements of the north range of buildings appear to have been donated to Sherborne School circa 1851(1).
