Summary

A bowl barrow adjoining the parish boundary between Piddletrenthide and Cheselbourne. In 1970 this monument was reported as 26 feet in diameter with a mound about 2½ feet high, covered with trees and much damaged by rabbits.

A barrow group centred ST 730023 (See Table). <2-4>

G. ST 72950220. Bowl barrow 10.0m north-south by 8.0m east-west and up to 0.8m high. There is no visible ditch. Tree covered and mutilated by rabbit digging.

Tumuli surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <5>

'(59) Bowl (72950221), in Hanover Copse on Lyscombe Hill, adjoining the parish boundary with Cheselbourne, is covered with trees and has been much damaged by rabbits. Diam. 26 ft., ht. 2½ ft.'

(61) Saucer-barrow ? (73000230), 35 yds. N.N.E. of (60), is covered with trees; it consists of a small mound surrounded by a well-marked ditch and an outer bank; the latter has been destroyed on the E. side by an old copse bank. Diam. of mound 18 ft., ht. 1 ft. Ditch 4 ft. across and 6 ins. deep; bank 7 ft. across and 1 ft. high.
