Cross-dyke, 530 yds. NE of the foregoing, on Lyscombe Hill, runs NW-SE (73000251-73100241) with its ditch on the uphill or NE side; its length is about 140 yds. Now in two sections but probably originally a single monument.

Full Description

(46) Cross-dyke, 530 yds. NE of the foregoing, on Lyscombe Hill, runs NW-SE (73000251-73100241) with its ditch on the uphill or NE side; its length is about 140 yds. The bank is 16ft wide and 1 1/2 ft high, the ditch is 18ft across and 1ft deep. The dyke is broken near the centre by a modern track, and the E end, which lay in Cheselbourne, is now destroyed. This is one of a group of dykes of non-defensive character which appear to be associated with the surrounding Iron Age/Romano British field system. <1-2>

ST 73000248 to ST 73090239. A small cross-ridge dyke running northwest-southeast for some 124.0m. It consists of a bank 6.0m wide, and 0.3m high with a ditch 3.0m wide, 0.5m deep on the uphill northeast side. It is cut by a modern trackway 75.0m from the northwest end and has been mutilated by the modern boundary hedge at its southeast end. A stretch of bank can be traced for some 14.0m south of the hedge.

The bank is 16 ft. wide and 1½ ft. high, the ditch is 18 ft. across and 1 ft. deep. The dyke is broken near the centre by a modern track, and the E. end, which lay in Cheselbourne, is now destroyed.’
