Full Description
An infant burial was found in a shallow grave beneath the line of one of the walls of a large Late Roman town house during observations and recording at the site of the former Merchant’s Garage, High East Street, Dorchester in 1983 (1) (2). The neonate burial was laid supine with the head to the north in a shallow grave cut into the natural chalk. The grave was filled with chalk rubble. This burial was probably a foundation deposit within the town house.
