Full Description
M. Fox for Poole Museums, directed a rescue excavation in advance of the Dolphin development, Church Street, Christchurch, during 1974-5 (site X11.3). The excavation was subsequently published in DNHAS monograph 5 (1).
The excavations revealed a clay filled trench [F32] near and perpendicular to the Church Street frontage. This feature contained four glazed late medieval water pipes. A fifth pipe [F72] was of a different fabric and may represent a later repair. The pipes interlocked with the narrow ends towards the NE, indicating a direction of flow towards Church Street.
