Please read our .

Summary

The examination of the Christchurch Tithe map (1844) in conjunction with an excavation at Bargates, Christchurch, during 1977 (site X17), revealed a semi-circular field boundary in the area of tenement plots behind the Bargates frontage. It is thought that this might represent the position of a third round barrow in the vicinity of the excavated ring ditches 1 and 2.
