Summary

Hospital designed by Benjamin Ferrey and built in 1841. It is in a Jacobean style and is two-storeys high. It has Portland stone walls and tiled roofs. A chapel was added in 1862. Further additions were made in the twentieth century.

Full Description

(SY 69109060). Dorchester County Hospital (main block) a two-storeyed stone building with attics, built in Jacobean style to the designs of Benjamin Ferrey, has a north wing completed in 1841 and a central part of 1846. The south wing and chapel were completed by 1862, the whole then forming a more or less rectangular U-shaped plan. <2>
