Summary

In the County Museum '…is a fine ladle for dipping wine out of the crater, or large bowl. One the edge of this the ladle was hung when not in use. For this purpose the stem is hooked, the hook ending in what seem to be two duck's heads. This ladle is 11.5 in. long, the bowl 3.5 in. across. It was found in South Street in laying deep drains.'

In the County Museum '…is a fine ladle for dipping wine out of the crater, or large bowl. One the edge of this the ladle was hung when not in use. For this purpose the stem is hooked, the hook ending in what seem to be two duck's heads. This ladle is 11.5 in. long, the bowl 3.5 in. across. It was found in South Street in laying deep drains.'

Drains were laid in 1895 across the south end of South Street, outside Tilley's cycle showrooms. It is possible that the ladle was found in this area. However, the location of this find spot unknown. Mapped as a point at the south end of South Street.
