Full Description
A Roman coin was found by an employee of Messrs. Jeavon's at Bridport Road, Dorchester from a gas main opposite the barracks in 1955. Farrar Number 3 (1954), described as a well worn Sestertius of Trajan datable to AD 112-7 (M. & S. nos.636-8).
Obverse Inscription: [IMP CAES] NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC [PM TRP COS VI PP]
Obverse Description: Laur. bust r.
Reverse Inscription: [SPQR OPTIMO] PRINCIPI
Reverse Description: woman reclining left holding wheel and branch; in exergue VIA TRAIANA - S C
