Full Description

(SY 69189044) Hospital or Workhouse (Extending along the East side of Trinity Street and the west side of South Street). <1>

Dorchester hospital was built 1616 according to Whiteways Chronicle. It seems to have been a kind of workhouse and stood at the lower end of South Street after having been applied to other uses,it was again, in 1744, converted into a workhouse. <2>

The area is partly covered by buildings and partly by yards. No trace of antiquity was found. <3>
