Full Description

ST 4951 0462 - A roughly circular ditch averages 4.0 m wide and 0.5 m. deep which surrounds a low natural mound. The mound is covered with lush green grass in contrast to the marshy and reed-covered surrounding ground. It has the appearance of having been cultivated and the ditch may merely represent drainage for this purpose. On the other hand it may be a deliberate enclosure for stock. The site is low lying and would appear to be medieval or later rather than prehistoric.
There is a 7.0m causeway across the ditch in the S.E. The northern and eastern sections are reed and marsh filled. The outer oval enclosure shown on APs which, on the ground is not traceable throughout its length, is in the north, part of a drainage system. There were no traces of occupation sites. <1>
