Full Description

Excavations beneath the proposed Children's Ward, Mortuary and Boiler House at the County Hospital located several Roman features. A street aligned west-south-west to east-north-east was found beneath the Children's Ward, and post-holes and ditches were noted under the other buildings. In 1970, a room with a coarse mosaic floor, perhaps that seen by Moule in 1875, was located. <2>
