Full Description

SY69259068. CJ Green confirmed from trenching in 1978 that a Roman building straddles the modern street opposite the Antelope Hotel. It was bounded on the south and north by open areas. <1>

'C J S Green reports that the cutting of a 1.2 m deep trench for the renewal of gas mains in South Street confirmed the existence of a Roman building crossing the street opposite the Antelope Hotel, bounded to north and south by open areas (SY 69259068).'
