Monument record MDO18665 - Library Site, Colliton Park, Dorchester; Roman Oven 7

Oven 6 was one of eight ovens found during the excavations on the site of the new Dorset County Library, Colliton Park, Dorchester in 1961-63. Oven 7 lay in the southern end of the open area roughly paved with limestone slabs, to the south of Ovens 1 and 6. It was only partially excavated, but appeared to have a similar construction to Oven 4, with a firing floor to the north. Some New Forest pottery dating from post-AD270 was recovered from this oven.
