SY 77998595. A bowl barrow, 35ft diameter and 3ft high, situated on a small knoll on Galton Heath. <1> <3>

Bowl barrow as described above. Diameter 17.0m, height 1.0m. No visible evidence of a ditch. Published Survey (1:2500) revised on MSD. <4>

‘There are twelve barrows. Two, unidentified, ‘one on the downs and one on the heath’, were opened in the 1890s. Both contained at least one inurned cremation, and from one came two urns, now in D.C.M. (Dorset Procs. XVII (1896), xxv-xxvi; xxix (1908), 136-7; xxx (1909), xlviii.) . . . (29) Bowl (SY 78 NE; 77998595) on small knoll on Galton Heath. Diam. 35 ft., ht. 3 ft.’
