Summary

Lynchets visible on aerial photographs to the west of Compton House. The earthworks are also visible on 2022 Composite DTM lidar imagery and 2025 Google Earth imagery. The features potentially include removed field boundaries and ridge and furrow cultivation of medieval to post medieval date but could also include part of an area of former medieval settlement, particularly to the north alongside the road.

Full Description

Lynchets visible on aerial photographs to the west of Compton House. The earthworks are also visible on 2022 Composite DTM lidar imagery and 2025 Google Earth imagery. The features potentially include removed field boundaries and ridge and furrow cultivation of medieval to post medieval date but could also include part of an area of former medieval settlement, particularly to the north alongside the road. <1, 2>

The field boundaries are visible as upstanding banks in 1947 APs. <3>
