Monument record MDO18493 - Dingles Store, Princes Street, Dorchester; post-medieval timber building

A number of postholes, probably the remains of a post-medieval building was found in the SW corner of the trench excavated by Wessex Archaeology in 1989, in advance of proposed redevelopment behind the former Dingles Store (now Princes House), Dorchester. A group of five square or rectangular postholes were found in the central part of the excavation trench and may be part of a timber building or other structure in this area. No complete plan of this structure can be deduced. The postholes were cut by a pit containing 18th century material, but are otherwise undated.
