Full Description
A group of six Bronze Age pits were found in Trench 1 during the excavation at Middle Farm undertaken by Wessex Archaeology in 1992 (1) (2). These pits lay on the east side of the trench, in the field corner denoted by ditches 1049 and 1030. These pits were not well-dated. Only one pit contained a single sherd of Early-Middle Bronze Age pottery. One pit cut field boundary ditch 1030, indicating a terminus post quem of the Middle Bronze Age. All of these pits contained burnt flint.
