‘Romano-British finds near Sandy Barrow, Osmington
Mr. K. C. Jehan found a few abraded sherds of Romano-British pottery about SY 73908236 in ploughsoil in the landslipped area about 300 yards south of the site recorded in the Proceedings, Vol. 84, p. 113, but there were no other signs of occupation in this area, where there are boggy patches owing to the nature of the subsoil.’

<5> Farrar, R A H (Compiler), 1964, Archaeological Notes and News for 1963: Recent Discoveries and Accessions; Proceedings of the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society, 102 (Article in serial). SWX2116.

‘In 1962, a Mr. F. Archibald gave to the Museum some Romano-British sherds, mostly amorphous, but including several rims of late flanged ware bowls, and a few pieces of hand-made, possibly Iron Age A ware, found in deep ploughing “in a field not far from the end of Watery Lane, SY 729825”. The writer has been unable to trace the donor, but the site may well be that recorded in Volume 84, although the collection includes no medieval sherds, which otherwise form a fair proportion of material recorded from this particular site. Of some interest, however, was a single fragment of very coarse, thick, flinty ware resembling salting ‘briquetage’.’
