‘7. Holway Copse. ST(31)/63551961; 1924/2293-4. This site overlooks Higher Sandford Orcas, and is in the parish of Castleton although the copse itself is in Somerset. From surface observation for a number of years there appears to be again a similar hutted site, fragmentary Samian ware and Romano-British pottery, etc., being found. It will be noted that all these sites follow on the junction of the sands and the inferior oolites and therefore are ideal positions for early occupation, particularly as in nearly every case ample supplies of water are given out by the lower beds of the sands nearby.’
