Full Description

In 1963, Captain A W J Cobham found a Durotrigian bronze coin (Mack's Type 340), dated to around AD50-70, in his garden at 'The Walnuts, 2 Prout Hill, Beaminster. The coin was found in the same area as some Roman pottery found previously. The coin was subsequently lost in the same garden. <1>

Captain Cobham has found … In 1963 he found a cast bronze coin of the Durotriges, Mack 339 (Farrar gives Mack 340), in soil from the southern corner of the garden. It is now lost. <1> <2>
