Full Description
1. Anti-Tank blocks situated between the disused railway line and Cattistock road on the eastern bank of the River Frome.
2. Constructed of conglomerate cencrete and positioned on a 12 inch thick concrete base.
3. Dimensions:
42 inch square with apex
4ft between each block
Constructed in 6 inch wide bands
4ft above ground level
18 anti-tank blocks, constructed of concrete and positioned on a 12ins thick concrete base. Dimensions, 42ins square with apex; 4ft between each block; constructed in 6ins wide bands.Between the disused railway line and Cattistock Road on the E bank of the River Frome, Maiden Newton. <1-3>
Second World War anti tank obstacle comprising a line of at least eighteen anti tank blocks to the north of The Quarr, Maiden Newton. The blocks are visible as structures on aerial photographs taken in 1947 <4> and were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valleys AIM project.
