'Field kiln with associated features. The kiln is rectangular in plan and built of roughly coursed stone. The face stands c. 5m high and contains a round headed brick draw arch with a single stone/brick lined draw eye. A line of joist holes along the front indicate that there was formerly a lime shed here. Within the kiln block, at the west end, there is a small room which served as a lime burner's shelter with a gothic arched door and window. Internally, it has a brick barrel vaulted roof and a a fireplace in one corner, with a low stone bench along one side. The pot is circular, brick lined and covered with an iron grille. The top of the kiln is level with the quarry base to the north. An earth ramp appears to run up to the top of the kiln on either side. The kiln was restored in 1987 by the Ramblers's Association and the Dorset Countryside Volunteers.'
