Full Description

Smedmore House, of two storeys with attics and cellar, has walls of local stone and a stone slated roof. It was built by Sir William Clavell in the early 17th century, but was entirely remodelled in the early 18th century. A new range with entrance hall and reception rooms was built on the north-west side in 1761, and a south-east wing was added circa 1800. <2>
