Summary

A house built in the early part of the nineteenth century, and set at right angles to the road. The building has walls of stone, brick and cob covered in plaster, and a thatched roof with brick chimney stack. Surviving internal features are reported to include a large open fireplace with bread oven.

‘The following monuments unless otherwise described are of one storey and attics with cob walls and thatched roofs. … (20) COTTAGE (802852), on the S. side of the Dorchester road, of coursed rubble with a projecting brick chimney-breast on the E. side, was built in the early 18th century.’
