Summary

A farmhouse thought to have been built in the eighteenth century. The building has walls of brick and a slate-covered roof with brick chimney stacks. Surviving original features in the interior are reported to include ceiling beams and a staircase.

‘(8) WEST FOSSIL FARM, house (794851), of two storeys with a slated roof, was built in the early 17th century, when the plan probably comprised two heated rooms with a dairy or pantry between. It was altered and extended in the 18th and 19th centuries. Barn, S.E. of the house, of brick with a tiled roof, is of the late 18th century; it was heightened in the 19th century.’
